Introduction to the Carbon Material Research Institute

To help Hengyuan achieve its goal of "doing high-end, doing scale, and building a complete industry chain," the establishment of an Advanced Carbon Materials Research Institute aims to guide production and processing with scientific research outcomes and promote experimental research and development through process data.

Location: Situated within the Linyi Chemical Industry Park in Dezhou City, Shandong Province, specifically at the southeast corner of the Hengyuan Petrochemical plant area.

Area: The facility covers a total area of 6,000 square meters (m²), which includes research and development workshops, laboratories, offices, and other functional spaces.

Research Content

The research and development content of our institute focuses on popular, cutting-edge, and domestically critical technologies. Hengyuan aims to achieve breakthroughs and take the lead in this direction, maximizing product added value, enhancing corporate efficiency, and driving industry progress. We will continue to broaden our horizons and seek long-term collaborations with research institutes that possess strong professional capabilities and robust R&D capacities. These partnerships aim to extend the company’s carbon materials industry chain powerfully, thereby empowering the efficient development of the national carbon materials industry.

1.Research focuses on the solvent extraction conditions of heavy oil, evaluation of hydrogenation catalysts, control of needle coke formation conditions, and examination of their thermal reaction properties and microscopic structures. This research uses experimental data to guide production and processing.

2.Produce mesophase pitch components, and based on this, produce advanced carbon materials such as foam carbon, mesophase pitch-based carbon fibers, mesophase pitch-based carbon/carbon composites, and mesophase carbon microspheres.

3. Prepare high-quality coated pitch to improve the initial efficiency, rate performance, and cycling performance of anode materials.

4.Subsequent R&D and application of graphite electrodes, lithium battery anode materials, silicon-carbon anode materials, and colloidal pitch.

Research and Development Collaboration

Deepen the strategic coordination of industry, university and research, we have established all-round technical cooperation with the State Key Laboratory of three top universities in China, signed six key research and development agreements, focusing on the expansion of needle coke raw materials, the subsequent development and application of silicon carbon composite lithium battery cathode materials, colloidal asphalt, the third generation semiconductor and other joint research and development. As of now, the company's intellectual property system construction has achieved remarkable results, with a total of 20 patent applications (including 4 invention patents), of which 14 core patent technologies have been industrialized and applied through the engineering transformation center, creating economic benefits of 200 million yuan. The next step is to leverage the advantages of this research and development platform to accelerate the development towards industrial scale, providing strong momentum for breaking through key technological bottlenecks, leading industry technological upgrades, and building core competitive advantages for enterprises.

Talent Reserve

Our institute currently has a specialized R&D team consisting of thirteen members with bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

In the future, we will continue to increase the recruitment of high-level innovative talents and collaborate with universities to jointly cultivate master's and doctoral students. This effort aims to build the Carbon Materials Research Institute into a high-level, comprehensive, and specialized base for scientific research and practical education.
